Writing a Book Takes a Lifetime

I go through my day cataloging things that I see.  I write down weird conversations I hear, or just memorize the way people walk a certain way.

Sometimes I write down stories people tell me about their lives.  For instance, a friend (who shall remain nameless for her sake and my own) once had a bit too much to drink.  She was then walked home by an equally intoxicated male acquaintance.  For reasons she can’t remember she decided to go with him to his house.  While there things got further than she would have liked.  So she went home.  Without her pants.

Now you can’t make up wonderful stories like that.

I of course will not include her name and her story will be put in the hands of a character that mostly doesn’t resemble her but eventually things like this will end up in my book.  I have a whole file folder on my computer just packed with quotes and sentences and pictures or stories that I’ve gathered which will one day be written cohesively and placed in a bound book.

I think it will probably be actually written sometime around my mid-life crisis.

  1. haha, I can't wait to read this book. Things that actually happen are always so much better than things people think up.
